Why it matters

A certification recognized around the world.

ISO/IEC 27001 is the international standard for an information security management system. An accredited certification body audits your ISMS and, if it meets the standard, issues a certificate you can show customers, partners and regulators.

Opens doors with larger clients

Many enterprise and international buyers ask for ISO 27001 certification in security questionnaires and contracts, especially outside the United States.

Risk-based, not a checklist

You assess your own risks and choose controls to treat them. Annex A lists 93 controls, and your Statement of Applicability explains which apply and why.

Audited every year

Certification runs on a three-year cycle with surveillance audits in between, so your ISMS has to keep working and improving, not just pass once.

Questions

Common ISO 27001 questions

What is the difference between ISO 27001 and SOC 2?

ISO 27001 is an international certification of your whole management system. SOC 2 is a CPA’s attestation report that is most common with US buyers. The controls overlap heavily, so many companies pursue both.

Do we need the 2022 version?

Yes. ISO/IEC 27001:2022 is the current version, and the transition period for certificates issued under the 2013 version ended on October 31, 2025.

Can Tech Hero certify us?

No. Certification is issued by an accredited certification body. We prepare your environment, build your ISMS documentation and support you through the audits.

How long does certification take?

It depends on your scope and how many gaps we find. Many first-time projects take several months before the certification audit. The gap assessment gives you a realistic plan and timeline.
